Opinion regarding Ireland's military neutrality

There are going to be more calls for #Ireland to change or abandon its 85-year-old policy of military #neutrality.

My personal opinion is that Ireland should strengthen and clarify it's position of neutrality. However, I also accept the logic that it's probably no longer tenable.

However, if it isn't going to be maintained, we need to be very careful about who's promoting the various forms of military alliances that Ireland could enter into. A simple rule of thumb: people who live and work somewhere other than Ireland and who come to provide support and information to those suggesting we enter NATO or some other alliance, are not concerned for Ireland's security and integrity. Follow the money: they are almost certainly attempting to open Ireland up as an arms market and are working on behalf of the arms manufacturers.
